The Blessing of Obedience #147

Mat 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and

all these things shall be added unto you.

God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God is not a man, that he should lie, why then are so many believers struggling through life? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Consider some of God’s faithfulness to provide for His people in times of need. Jesus fed the multitude with five loaves and two fishes. Elijah was fed by the ravens while hiding from Ahab in the brook of Cherith. The children of Israel ate mana in the wilderness, drank water from a rock, fire by night provided light, and clouds by day provided shade for forty years. The Lord provided oil for the widow to sell and wine for the wedding in Cana of Galilee. Yet, the question remains, if God is faithful, why are so many of His people struggling?

God’s provision is within Him and flows through the avenue of obedience to His Word. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. This promise is for everyone that holds the Word of God as their priority. Therefore, as we draw near to the Lord, He draws near to us with all His provisions. By walking in obedience, the promise is released according to our needs.

On the opposite side, knowing the Word of God and walking in disobedience is rebellious. They seek the blessing by misusing the Word of God instead of seeking Him for it. They struggle through life due to their rebellion. Therefore, the blessings of God will not flow to them. God is faithful, and His promises will never change. He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Consider His promises to those in defiance of the Word of God. But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

Brethren, desiring the wealth of this world will lead to a gradual drifting away from God. The cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. The conclusion is emptiness, struggling for more, as the Word of God is no longer a priority. Believers, if you find yourself in a similar situation change your priorities: seek Him first, and His blessing will come.
