Exodus 3:5
Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place
whereon thou standest is holy ground.
While Moses was watching the flock, he came into the sacred and holy ground of the Lord. Before the presence of God, the secrets of the hearts are transparent. Moses had a genuine encounter with the Lord, and all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
There are protocols before we can have an audience with God. The removal of the shoes indicates our ways are not pleasing in His sight, and our hearts must be clean from all filthiness. We must come before His presence with reverence and hearts of humility as we bow before His Holiness. A symbol of our unworthiness while expressing our gratitude for His unconditional love.
Holy grounds are temporary. The moment God leaves the place, it becomes unholy. Beware not to build monuments where God used to be but is no longer there. Honoring the place above His presence is idolatry. Godly conviction is evidence of His presence, but leave if there is no conviction of sin.
The Holy Spirit does not dwell in every place called by His name. Creating a house for the Lord, performing religious activities, and looking spiritual are noble works, but they will not draw the presence of the Lord. God does not dwell in a temple made with hands. The Holy Spirit does not abide in every place where men put His name, only where He chooses to manifest Himself. Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there. There we can hear His voice as He makes Himself known to us.
Brethren, let no man judge you but be honest and judge yourselves. Where there is no revelation of His holiness, there is no conviction of sin. Remaining in there is idolatry, giving honor to the place above His presence. However, if you long for a genuine encounter with God, you must come out from among them. Go on a personal journey of seeking and searching until you find where God has chosen to dwell. Conviction of your sins is an indication that you have found the place. Remember, ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
