Matthew 26:36
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and
saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
Jesus led His disciples to the mountain of olives. He took Peter, James, and John to Gethsemane to pray while the other disciples waited. Gethsemane is an olive press used to retrieve oil by crushing the olives. My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death. tarry ye here, and watch with me.
At Gethsemane, the gravity of the situation had intensified. The heaviness and sorrow were too unbearable for Jesus to carry. The thought of being separated from the Father tormented His Mind. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. At that moment, Jesus denied Himself and embraced His destiny. Meantime, the three disciples were tired, and their eyes were heavy, and finally, they fell asleep.
Jesus told His disciples tarry ye here, and watch with me. See and learn from Me what happens at Gethsemane. Where the will of the flesh surrenders to the will of the Father. Like olives, some disciples are too tender and not ready to endure the crushing of Gethsemane. The Lord puts them aside for later. Those that are ready, the Lord will lead us to the end of ourselves to embrace our purpose. Every disciple must go through Gethsemane to fulfill their destiny.
Gethsemane is where we embrace our God-given cross until we are nailed and crucified. The end of self, or self-denial, as we willingly surrender our will to do the Father's will. The way we present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Jesus showed us the way, so we can experience what He when through for our selves. Gethsemane can not be taught or explained, and only those that go through it can relate.
Brethren, Jesus will take His disciples to the mountain of olives. Only those that are ready He will personally lead to the end of themselves, Gethsemane. Those that have experienced Gethsemane are already dead to themselves. Paul said For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. We have decided to live for Christ now and die for Him later.
